Sponsoring refugees is a beautiful way to share the love of Jesus in a hands-on, practical way. It is a commitment to working alongside refugees and ensuring they have the necessary support to successfully integrate into Canada.
With City of Refuge coordinators to assist them, a local church acts as the official sponsor (called a Constituent Group) while a team of church members becomes the support network for the newcomer. Sponsoring groups commit to providing basic financial support and emotional support/care for the sponsored refugee for one year after they arrive in Canada.
